With my post on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, I’ve finally completed a small personal goal I had for 2016: to complete my 400th book review on Elliot’s Blog. Since beginning to post in July 2010, I’ve learned so much about, well, so much! Here are a few stats that I find interesting:
My Top-5 Most-reviewed Authors (up to this point):
- Clive Cussler (23)
- John MacArthur (10)
- Joel C. Rosenberg (10)
- Francis Schaeffer (10)
- Jerry Bridges (7)
My Top-5 Most-popular Reviews:
- Spiritual Leadership by Henry Blackaby
- Share Jesus without Fear by William Fay
- Pastoral Ministry by John MacArthur
- The Celebrations of Discipline by Richard Foster
- And He Dwelt Among Us by A.W. Tozer
What I’ve Learned about My Reading Habits:
- I do not prefer reading non-fiction works that predate the 1970s.
- I do not prefer reading Christian works that predate the 1970s.
- On average, most of my favorite books were published from the 1950s-1980s.
- I do not prefer to read books written by women (don’t hold that against me).
- I have very little exposure to anything written before my parents’ generation.
- I prefer recent releases to both new releases and classics.
We’ll see if this changes as time progresses!
Some Final Interesting Tidbits:
- I’ve averaged 6 book reviews per month over the past 66 months (“the devil is in the details”? ha.)
- In my most prolific month, I completed 20 reviews (not that I read them all then, but had finally found time to review them!)
- More than 43,000 visitors have viewed my posts for a total of 86,500 views.
I look forward to the next benchmark, 400, and all that I will learn along they way.
