400th Book Review!

With my post on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, I’ve finally completed a small personal goal I had for 2016: to complete my 400th book review on Elliot’s Blog. Since beginning to post in July 2010, I’ve learned so much about, well, so much! Here are a few stats that I find interesting:

My Top-5 Most-reviewed Authors (up to this point):

  1. Clive Cussler (23)
  2. John MacArthur (10)
  3. Joel C. Rosenberg (10)
  4. Francis Schaeffer (10)
  5. Jerry Bridges (7)

My Top-5 Most-popular Reviews:

  1. Spiritual Leadership by Henry Blackaby
  2. Share Jesus without Fear by William Fay
  3. Pastoral Ministry by John MacArthur
  4. The Celebrations of Discipline by Richard Foster
  5. And He Dwelt Among Us by A.W. Tozer

What I’ve Learned about My Reading Habits:

  1. I do not prefer reading non-fiction works that predate the 1970s.
  2. I do not prefer reading Christian works that predate the 1970s.
  3. On average, most of my favorite books were published from the 1950s-1980s.
  4. I do not prefer to read books written by women (don’t hold that against me).
  5. I have very little exposure to anything written before my parents’ generation.
  6. I prefer recent releases to both new releases and classics.

We’ll see if this changes as time progresses!

Some Final Interesting Tidbits:

  1. I’ve averaged 6 book reviews per month over the past 66 months (“the devil is in the details”? ha.)
  2. In my most prolific month, I completed 20 reviews (not that I read them all then, but had finally found time to review them!)
  3. More than 43,000 visitors have viewed my posts for a total of 86,500 views.

I look forward to the next benchmark, 400, and all that I will learn along they way.
