While I have not read the first book in this Traveler’s Series, The Traveler’s Gift, by Andy Andrews, I was immediately intrigued by the fresh concept of an ordinary man in modern times who sits in league with several historical giants. He’s a time-traveler gifted with the wisdom of the ages as a representative of the entire human race.

David Ponder, now older than he had been in book one, views himself as nearing the end of his days here on earth. But when Gabriel appears to him in his Dallas penthouse one night, Ponder is ushered into a new journey, one similar to his travels in the past, but also undeniably different. He suddenly discovers that a vast number of travelers like himself exist; and much to his surprise and chagrin, he also discovers that he must lead these great minds in a race against the moral clock to discover two words that will save humanity.

Conversation in such a static setting has never been so enthralling as it is in The Final Summit. Andrews brings together the wisest cast from ages past to discuss their philosophies and beliefs in an effort to discover the key to unlocking the shackles of humanity’s moral depravity. King David, Harry Truman, Ben Franklin, Gabriel the Archangel, and plenty of surprise guests besides show up.

This is one novel that will leave its readers changed—intellectually, socially, and morally. I recommend this book to any reader of fiction who is tired of fluff and ready for a new kind of novel that mixes true wisdom with the flare of suspense and the strength of developed characters.
