While the My Princess Bible might not be normal seminary reading for me, I chose this book as a gift for a very special person in my life: my little niece, Freja, who will turn 2 this weekend.

This book, published by Tyndale Kids, is the best little Bible I could give to Freja at this important age. The pink, hardcover book is speckled with fancy glitter, and its durable card-stock pages are filled with colorful illustrations. But the looks of the book are not the only thing that make it so special.

Throughout the book, the author retells twenty biblical tales of mighty, godly and wise women and girls who overcame their obstacles by trusting in God and displaying godly character. The author sets each story down into short, eight-line poems, and then follows each poem with a brief summary and application. Following each story is a page which personalizes the lesson for your little girl: “Freja is God’s special princess. Freja (does what the woman in the story did).”

These stories are very easy to follow and will prove to be the perfect introduction to the accounts recorded in God’s Word for your little girl, whether she’s 2 or 7, or whether she’s that little girl who’s still hiding somewhere inside of you.

The only critique I’d give is the title. It’s not a Bible but rather a collection of biblical accounts. Two-year-old girls won’t be thrown by it, but there’s no reason so start them off on the wrong foot, even if it is just innocent cutesy-ness.
